WARDOGS Weapon Tier List

Database Last updated Rankings publish 10 Sep 2026

Answer

No verified WARDOGS weapon tier list exists yet, and any site publishing one today is guessing. The Early Access build goes live on 10 September 2026; before that, nobody outside BULKHEAD's closed tests has fired the shipping weapons, and no weapon names, damage values or prices have been published. This page documents the method we will rank by — which in WARDOGS has to account for cost, because you re-buy your gun every life — and fills with real rankings from launch day.

Why a WARDOGS tier list is not a normal tier list

In most shooters, a tier list ranks weapons by performance, because once a weapon is unlocked it is free. The only variable that matters is how well it kills.

WARDOGS breaks that assumption. Every weapon has a cash price, and you pay it again every time you respawn. That introduces a second axis that most tier lists do not have to model:

QuestionNormal shooterWARDOGS
Is this weapon strong? The whole questionHalf the question
What does it cost?Nothing, once unlockedCash, every single life
What does buying it prevent?NothingArmour, a medical kit, a vehicle, a FOB
Does losing it hurt?NoYes — it is gone and must be re-bought

A weapon that is objectively the strongest in the game can still be a C-tier purchase if its price routinely leaves players unable to fund the things that actually move the scoreboard. Conversely, a mediocre rifle at a low price can be S-tier in practice because it lets you buy armour, a medical kit and still bank toward a forward operating base.

Our ranking method

When the live build is available, every weapon will be assessed on five axes and ranked as a purchase, not as an abstract stat block.

  1. Cost as a share of the opening balance What fraction of the starting $10,000 does this weapon consume, and what does that leave for armour and utilities?
  2. Effective range band Which of the three broad zone terrain types — village, open valley, industrial mountain — does it actually perform in? A weapon that is excellent on one in three zone rolls is a situational buy.
  3. Time-to-kill and handling The conventional performance axis: damage, recoil, handling speed, and how forgiving it is at the ranges its price implies.
  4. Attachment dependency Does it need expensive attachments to reach its performance ceiling? A cheap rifle that needs a costly optic is not a cheap rifle.
  5. Opportunity cost The final rating. What else could that money have bought, and would that have contributed more to holding the Control Zone?

What the tiers will mean

TierDefinition
SBuy it on most balances, on most zones. Performance justifies price with room left for utility.
AStrong, correctly priced. A default purchase once your balance is comfortable.
BSituational. Right on specific zone terrain or at a specific balance, wrong elsewhere.
COverpriced for what it does, or outperformed by something cheaper in the same role.
DActively costs you the match. Money that would be better spent almost anywhere else.

We will also publish a “budget picks” list. In a game where a large share of your lives are spent recovering from a death, the best cheap weapon in each range band is arguably more useful information than the best weapon overall. That list will sit alongside the main tiers.

What can be said about weapons today

Honest scope: the following is confirmed, and it is all that is confirmed.

What is not confirmed: any weapon name, any damage figure, any price, any recoil characteristic, the total weapon count, or which weapons are in the Early Access build at all. See the weapons overview for the fuller picture of the system.

A note on tier lists you will find elsewhere

Several sites already rank WARDOGS weapons by name. Given that no weapon list has been published by BULKHEAD or Team17, treat those rankings with appropriate scepticism — check whether the page cites a source you can verify, and whether the names appear anywhere in official material. We would rather publish this page with a method and no rankings than with rankings and no basis. Our editorial policy explains that choice.

Tier list FAQ

What are the best weapons in WARDOGS?

There is no verified answer yet. No weapon names, damage values or prices have been published by BULKHEAD or Team17, and the Early Access build is not live until 10 September 2026. Ranked best weapons by category publish on this page from launch day.

What is the best gun in WARDOGS?

No verified answer exists before the 10 September 2026 Early Access launch. This page publishes ranked picks from launch day.

When will this tier list be filled in?

From the Early Access launch build, and it will be re-checked after balance patches. Every revision carries a dated changelog.

Why does cost matter in a weapon tier list?

Because you buy your weapon again every life. A weapon's price directly determines whether you can also afford armour, a medical kit, a vehicle or a forward operating base.

Will there be separate tiers per weapon class?

Yes — overall tiers plus best-in-class picks by range band, and a budget list for recovering from a death.
