WARDOGS Price and Editions
Answer
WARDOGS costs US$39.99 in Early Access, or US$49.99 for the Supporter Edition. It is not free to play. Team17 has confirmed the Early Access price is deliberately set below the intended full price and will increase as the game matures — first to $49.99, then to $59.99 once WARDOGS leaves Early Access. Buying at launch is the cheapest the game will ever be.
Editions compared
| Edition | Early Access price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | US$39.99 | The full Early Access game. Every map, every weapon and every vehicle in the build. Pre-orders included guaranteed closed beta access. |
| Supporter Edition | US$49.99 | The game plus the Supporter Pack — cosmetic content. No gameplay content, no weapons, no vehicles, no economy advantage. |
The price goes up, not down
This is the part most worth understanding before deciding. Team17 has stated publicly that US$39.99 is an Early Access price, not the intended value of the finished game. The published trajectory is:
| Stage | Standard price |
|---|---|
| Early Access launch, 10 September 2026 | US$39.99 |
| Later in Early Access, as content is added | US$49.99 |
| After leaving Early Access (1.0) | US$59.99 |
No dates are attached to the increases. The practical consequence: the usual advice of “wait for a sale” works differently here. Seasonal Steam discounts will still happen, but the base price they discount from is rising, so a 20% sale in 2027 may not beat the launch price in 2026.
The counter-argument. Paying less for an unfinished product is only a bargain if the product gets finished. You are buying into an estimated one-to-two-year Early Access period for a game that ships with one mode and three maps. We lay that case out honestly on the is WARDOGS worth it page.
Is WARDOGS free to play?
No. This is the single most common misconception about the game, and it is an understandable one — a 100-player, three-faction, live-service-shaped shooter with an in-match currency system looks exactly like a free-to-play title from the outside.
It is not. WARDOGS is a premium purchase. The cash economy is a round-based gameplay mechanic, not a monetisation layer: every player starts each match with $10,000, earns more by playing for the team, and the balance resets when the match ends. No part of it is bought with real money.
Is the Supporter Edition worth it?
Straightforwardly: it is a US$10 tip with a cosmetic pack attached.
The reason it is an easy call in WARDOGS specifically is the economy. In a game where weapons and vehicles are unlocked by progression, a paid edition that shortcuts progression is a real decision. Here, everything is bought with in-match cash that every player earns identically, and there are no classes to unlock. A Supporter Edition buyer and a standard buyer sit down to the same buy screen with the same $10,000.
So: buy it if you want to support a studio that has been unusually honest about the state of its game, and you like the cosmetics. Skip it if you are optimising for value. Neither choice affects how you play.

Regional pricing
Steam applies regional pricing, so the local figure varies. Confirmed reference points:
| Region | Standard | Supporter |
|---|---|---|
| United States | US$39.99 | US$49.99 |
| Japan | ¥4,980 | ¥6,200 |
Other regions follow Steam's standard conversion tiers. Check the store page while signed in to see your own currency — the page shows the price for your Steam account region, which is the one that will be charged.
Pre-orders and where to buy WARDOGS
Steam is the only announced storefront. There is no Epic Games Store, GOG, Microsoft Store or Humble listing. Third-party key resellers may list WARDOGS; those keys, when legitimate, activate on Steam anyway, and the pre-order beta entitlement was tied to the Steam pre-order rather than to a key. If you want guaranteed access to anything Team17 attaches to pre-orders, buy directly.
Microtransactions and battle pass
Unconfirmed. Neither BULKHEAD nor Team17 has published a post-launch monetisation model for WARDOGS. There is no announced real-money store, battle pass or season structure. We are not going to guess at one — when a model is documented, this section will describe it and say where the information came from.
Price FAQ
How much is WARDOGS?
US$39.99 standard, US$49.99 Supporter Edition, in Early Access from 10 September 2026.
Is WARDOGS free?
No. It is a paid game with no free-to-play version and no announced free trial.
What is the difference between the WARDOGS editions?
US$10 and a cosmetic Supporter Pack. The Supporter Edition contains no gameplay content.
Will WARDOGS go on sale?
Standard Steam discounts are possible, but the base price is scheduled to rise to $49.99 and then $59.99, so waiting is not reliably cheaper.
Is WARDOGS pay to win?
Nothing announced sells power. All weapons, equipment and vehicles are bought with in-match cash earned by playing, and the paid edition adds cosmetics only.
Can I refund WARDOGS?
Standard Steam refund rules apply: under two hours played and within fourteen days of purchase. Early Access purchases are not exempt from them.
