WARDOGS Closed Beta Recap and Next Steps

Release Last updated Test ended

Is the WARDOGS beta still open?

No. The WARDOGS Closed Beta ran from 21 August until 24 August 2026 at 02:00 UTC and is now over. The separate WARDOGS Playtest entry may remain installed in Steam, but it no longer has an active beta service to connect to. The next confirmed public access is Steam Early Access on 10 September 2026. BULKHEAD has announced a major presentation for 3 September, but has not confirmed that it will be another public test.

Seeing “Access Denied” now? If the Playtest shows error 1147405308 and “Failed to authenticate with online services,” do not reinstall the game or disable security settings. The test is closed. Read the dedicated error 1147405308 explanation.

21 Aug, 17:30 UTCThe test opened after a 30-minute delay. The login queue came under heavy load and some players received authentication error 1147405308 after queuing.Official timing + reported incident
21–23 AugPlayers tested the 100-player Control Zone mode. The pinned known-issues thread tracked crashes, server-browser region limitations, local voice problems and unavailable Supporter Pack content.Official pinned thread

24 AugThe official recap confirmed the beta was over and pointed players to the FPS Games Show on 3 September for the next major announcement.Official

The event was marketed in local dates as 21–23 August. Because the final session ran past midnight UTC, the service actually closed at 02:00 UTC on 24 August. Both date ranges refer to the same beta weekend.

What the beta actually established

The August build gave us evidence that did not exist when this page was first published. The safest summary is a list of observed or officially tracked conditions, not a claim that every player encountered them:

For diagnosis, start with the WARDOGS troubleshooting page. It now separates beta service incidents from local PC failures instead of treating every connection or launch problem as an anti-cheat fault.

How August access worked

The historical access rules matter because key scams and old guides remain online:

Unknown: the official recap announces a major 3 September presentation, not another playable beta. It is possible that access plans will change, but another public test should not be presented as confirmed until BULKHEAD or Team17 publishes dates and eligibility.

What happens next?

  1. Leave the Playtest installed only if you want to It will not connect while the beta is closed. Uninstalling it does not affect your ownership of the full game, and keeping it installed does not guarantee future access.
  2. Watch the 3 September announcement BULKHEAD says its next major announcement will appear during the FPS Games Show. The content of that announcement is not yet confirmed.
  3. Use 10 September as the next confirmed play date Steam Early Access is the only public access window currently confirmed. Check the release page for exact unlock-time updates.
  4. Do not buy beta access A seller promising a key for the finished August event cannot reopen it and may be phishing for a Steam login.

Does beta progress carry over?

Unknown. BULKHEAD has not published a clear carry-over statement for the August Closed Beta. Do not assume levels, settings, statistics or other test data will transfer to Early Access. This page will replace the unknown only when the developer documents the answer.

Closed Beta FAQ

Is the WARDOGS Closed Beta over?

Yes. It ended on 24 August 2026 at 02:00 UTC. The official recap confirms the test is over.

Why can I still launch WARDOGS Playtest?

Steam can leave the Playtest entry installed after an event ends. Launching the client does not mean its authentication or game servers are active.

Why does the Playtest show error 1147405308?

The code appears with an online authentication failure. After the beta ended, the Playtest no longer has an active test service to authenticate against. See the full error guide.

Will there be another WARDOGS beta?

Not confirmed. A major announcement is scheduled for 3 September, but the official recap does not promise another playable beta. Early Access on 10 September is the next confirmed access.

Does beta progress carry over?

BULKHEAD has not confirmed that. Treat carry-over as unknown until the developer says otherwise.
