WARDOGS on PS5, Xbox and Other Platforms
Answer
WARDOGS is PC-only at Early Access launch, via Steam. BULKHEAD has publicly confirmed that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are planned — the studio's own words were that it absolutely wants to come to Xbox and PlayStation, and that console is the plan, but it does not know when. No console date or window has been announced. Reports of a 2027 console or Switch 2 release are press estimates, not announcements.
Platform status at a glance

| Xbox Game Pass | Not announced | Team17 has shipped titles to Game Pass before; nothing confirmed for WARDOGS. |
| PlayStation Plus | Not announced | No statement. |
| Epic Games Store | No | Not announced for any storefront other than Steam. |
| macOS | No | Windows only. No Mac version announced. |
| Linux (native) | No | BULKHEAD has said Linux is not a current development priority. |
| Steam Deck / Proton | Not supported | No verification, and kernel-level Easy Anti-Cheat is a blocker. Details. |
| Crossplay | Not announced | Nothing to cross-play with while the game is PC-only. |
The WARDOGS console release date question
Every version of this question — PS5, Xbox, “when is the WARDOGS console release date” — has the same answer, so it is worth stating once: BULKHEAD has confirmed the intent and given no date. There is no console release window, no target year, and no “during Early Access” commitment.
Is WARDOGS coming to PS5?
Yes, eventually — but nothing about the timing is knowable right now, and that is the honest answer.
BULKHEAD has been asked this directly in press interviews and has answered consistently: the studio wants to bring WARDOGS to both Xbox and PlayStation, and describes console as the plan. What it has never done is attach a year, a quarter, or even a “during Early Access” framing to it. When a developer says “we just don't know when”, taking that at face value is the correct reading.
There is a structural reason to expect the wait to be real rather than short. WARDOGS launches into an estimated one-to-two-year Early Access period with one mode, three maps and jets still to come. Shipping a live 100-player game onto console certification while the PC build is still changing weekly is a genuinely hard thing to schedule, and most studios in this position do it after the design has settled.
Xbox and Game Pass
The Xbox Series X|S situation is identical to PS5: confirmed intent, no date. WARDOGS is not on Xbox at Early Access launch and cannot be played on console in any form.
On Game Pass: no deal has been announced. Team17 has placed games on Game Pass before, so the question is reasonable, but there is nothing to report and we are not going to imply otherwise. There is also no Xbox Series X|S version in existence to put on the service yet.

Switch 2
Nothing has been announced. Some coverage has listed a 2027 Switch 2 release alongside the PS5 and Xbox estimates; that originates in press speculation about a plausible console window, not in any statement from BULKHEAD or Team17. Given the game's minimum PC specification is a GTX 1660 with 16 GB of system RAM, a Switch 2 port would be a substantial technical undertaking rather than a straightforward addition.
Does WARDOGS have crossplay?
The question does not have a meaningful answer yet, because there is only one platform. No crossplay or cross-progression policy has been published for the eventual console versions.
Worth noting for anyone planning ahead: WARDOGS uses kernel-level Easy Anti-Cheat on PC, and controller support on PC is officially described as limited. Both of those are signals that input parity between PC and console has not been solved yet, which is usually a prerequisite for a shooter enabling crossplay.
Epic Games Store, macOS and other PC platforms
Steam is the only announced storefront. There is no Epic Games Store, GOG, Microsoft Store or Humble version of WARDOGS announced, and no macOS version — the game is listed for Windows 10 and 11 only. Nothing rules these out permanently, but none of them has been mentioned by Team17, and Early Access will ship without them.
What “PC-only” actually means here
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Those are the only listed operating systems.
- Steam only. No other PC storefront is announced.
- No Steam Deck. No verification status, no Proton confirmation, and kernel anti-cheat in the way. See the anti-cheat page for why that matters.
- Limited controller support. You can play WARDOGS on PC, but plan on mouse and keyboard.
